Farm Upon Hill
.
Two weeks after my nineteenth birthday
My clothes packed in that old suitcase
A one way ticket to Phoenix
Determined to make my place
.
Goodbyes said hug’s all around
All our teardrops shed
I said goodbye to that little farm
Were all my life I’ve laid my head
.
No more running the woods All hours of the day
Or camping at night with my friends
New adventures now awaited me
Around my life’s next bend
.
It was jobs and a wife and children
Some time spent with uncle Sam
On this journey I had started
In my quest to become a man
.
I have traveled all around this country
And all the places I have seen
But nothing compares to that little farm
It seems almost a dream
.
Twenty years later I still think
Of that farm upon the hill
I miss the times I had there
And I guess I always will
.
