Standing in the shadows
On a dark rainy night
A man feels the pain
From a love that took flight

With no one left to hold
Or share his memories with
A man caught in loneliness
A soul that’s caught adrift

No more nights in lovers arms
To share the passions flame
No more all night spent up talking
About the future planned.

A lonely heart filled with hurt
Begging to be healed
A love to come and fill the void
Were his love once had sealed

His heart will mend with time
And a new love he will find
But for now the emptiness
Stays upon his mind
