Remember
.
The heart, The words, they tumble forth
Like leaves from a tree in fall.
He cant keep it inside any more.
He needs to tell it all
.
The man remembers the childhood
And the things that he had seen
And how he didn’t say a word
To protect her from that fiend
.
He came over when the family was away
And the two children were home all alone
He would sneak her off to that wooden shed
But the young boys curiosity Drove him behind
.
He saw the things he done to her
And knew that they were not right
He should run and tell someone what he saw
But the boy cowered in fright
.
The old man warned him to keep his tongue
And forget all that he saw
He stared down at the young man
Who had seen it all.
.
She comes out of the shed her clothes a mess
Tearstains upon her small face
A girl of only 13 years
Older now because of that place
.
It wasn’t the first time that the old man had come
And led her off and away
And the boy knew what was going on
He remembers it still to this day.
.
The years have gone and time has healed
But the young man still remembers
The young girl now is a shell of herself
To drugs her soul she surrendered.
.
I cant turn back the clock and right the wrongs
That I know I could have done
If id just said one word to let someone know
The old man would have been gone.
.
I remember still the looks on her face
when to the wooden shed they did go
Of fright and despair and pain all in one
And I was the only one to know.
