My Son

I got a call from my son today
What he said it made me cry
I was hurt today and cant play the game
Under his breath I heard a sigh

It wasnt what he said but what he didnt
That tugged at my hearts strings
He believed I would be disappointed in him
If he couldnt live out my dreams

A lump in my throat A tear in my eye
It made me start to think
Had I made it seem he had to do this
To make me proud of him
~
From the little boy who is now almost a man
I looked back upon his life
I see it now the things he did
Was so in my eyes he would shine
~
My eyes blurred with tears I couldnt speak
I knew not what to say
He did not know that he was my hero
No matter the path that he stayed
~
Disappointed in him I never could be
He has made my life so much more
To see him grow to what he has become
He is my life to the core
